TFS at Nokia?

by jesfer 14. February 2011 17:12

Nokia will use WP7 as their primary smart phone platform. I wonder if they’ll start to use other Microsoft platforms/products as well… Visual Studio and TFS seems like a logical choice for development and application lifecycle management Smile

HTC headsets

by jesfer 27. November 2009 17:14

I finally got my HTC HD2 and I love it! The included headset on the other hand... complete and utter crap. Why HTC continue to ship their phones with lousy headsets is a mystery to me. Their phones are reat but the headsets always takes away from an otherwise pleasant experience. So, if you plan to buy this phone, make sure to order a new headset.

Mushroom management

This is nothing new, but I was not aware it had a name. Mushroom management... Why are anti-patterns so much more fun than all the useful patterns? Laughing

Pop Ups behind windows?

by jesfer 16. September 2008 21:33

Why do some pop ups insist on popping up BEHIND all other windows!? Seriously, its the most annoying thing ever and it is wasting my time!

VR + RL = Installation

by jesfer 28. January 2008 12:55
This has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen! Smile Installation is a system built at MIT Media Lab and allows the user to "place" virtual objects in real space. Virtual reality in real life! Oh, the possibilities!!! I hope someone fits this concept into a pair of screen glasses real soon...

Mixed messages?

by jesfer 7. November 2007 12:59

There is a session at TechEd called "Women in Technology" (WIT 01-PAN) but considering the scheduling of the session I'm wondering if Microsoft would rather see women OUT OF technology. The session has its own session slot and overlaps two other slots… It is the ONLY session slot of the entire event scheduled this way!

Update: This session is no where to find in the session search tool either. First I thought it had something to do with me being a man and all, but after checking with one of the precious few women around here... No, they cant find it either...

Gaming throat mic

by jesfer 11. October 2007 08:54
Why are there no throat microphones designed for gamers? Well, actually, there is one, but with gaming peripherals being as much about image as functionality it is a bit surprising that companies such as Razer or Logitech don't carry a "military style" microphone for the hardcore FPS players. If I've spent a fortune on a 7.1 surround sound setup for my PC I don't want to put on a headset to speak to my CS/BF team, I just need a mic that can pick up my voice on the battlefield...

Disastrous inclination towards complexity and ingenuity

by jesfer 27. September 2007 13:39

Found a very good quote at Worse Than Failure today...

"Programmers… often take refuge in an understandable, but disastrous, inclination towards complexity and ingenuity in their work. Forbidden to design anything larger than a program, they respond by making that program intricate enough to challenge their professional skill."
Michael A Jackson - Principles of Program Design, 1975

Must have been what happened when the program I'm currently maintaining was originally designed... not that I would ever do something like that... promise...

Last day at work

by jesfer 16. May 2007 14:15

It is my last day at work today and we will have a small farewell party (as in coffee break with cake). Now, this is nice and all and more or less normal behaviour for any company. But as far as I can tell there are never any welcome parties (once again, coffee and cake)... Maybe I should do something about that on monday when I start my new job...

-"Hello, I'm the new guy. Want some cake?" Laughing
